The event begins a 8-month journey through the 20 years of writing, performing, slamming, teaching and coaching poetry through the Buffalo, NY area. This journey will include 5 poetry slams(not including this one), several writing workshops, an art show, and more.

The @buffaloakgartmuseum was selected as venue to start this experience because it holds several important moments in my poetry career. One being the last time their was poetry slam held in their building was in May 2, 2008 for the Nickel City Poetry Slam Finals in Clifton Hall. Where 8 amazing poets compete to present Buffalo at the National Poetry Slam in Madison, Wisconsin.

SPECIAL COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY WORKSHOP: This month instead of our normal monthly poetry workshop, we will be collaborating with Blues: A 5/14 Memorial Community Project. We will provide the community with an unique experience of combing poetry with Cyanotype printing.

What is the Blues: 5/14 Memorial Community Project?
A collaborative community project to memorialize the victims and impact of the May 14th racist massacre on the people of Buffalo, thousands of community members will make their own memorial flags for installation and display
on the site of the massacre and in various locations radiating from the site.

Had the opportunity to be apart of the first Food

Had the opportunity to be apart of the first Food Systems Conference for Youth at Health Sciences Charter School. Where a group of nutritionists, health professionals, educators and community leaders came together to teach a group of students the skills to build a healthy life.

@madebymeks and myself observed the different workshops in order to express the overall vision of the event through visual art and spoken word poetry.

I am teaching a 6-week poetry workshop series at Edward Saunders Community Center - CAO (@caowny ) in partnership with @chcbuffalo and Art That Heals for an amazing group of older adult black women.

For the 2nd week of this series I asked my good friend @biancalperiod to run a “Upcycling Journal Making” workshop. By turning discard product boxes into journals that participants can use for years to come.
